Ann Arbor's public parking system is managed by the Ann Arbor Downtown Development Authority under a contract with the city of Ann Arbor. The majority of the system's roughly 7,900 spaces are located in the tax-capture district of the Ann Arbor DDA. That total is accurate as of October 2014. It includes spaces in parking structures, surface lots, as well as roughly 2,000 on-street, metered spaces. At least since 2008, the Ann Arbor DDA has reported two basic kinds of statistics for the parking system: revenue and number of hourly patrons.  The hourly patrons statistic does not include those patrons who hold monthly permits for a structure, or those who use on-street metered spaces.
