The Longfellow Bridge is a bridge which carries Longfellow Avenue over Lindo Channel to connect with Mariposa Avenue.  The original bridge  at this location, completed in 1914, was about 150 feet east of the the current bridge and was known as the "Red Bridge". It was completed in 1914. At that time it was the only bridge over Lindo Channel (Sandy Gulch)  upstream from the Esplanade to the diffluence of Lindo Channel and Big Chico Creek.
