The Maltese is a bar and musical venue located south of downtown on Park Avenue. It is in the location of the former Pastime Pub and 99 Club. The Maltese cross is a symbol used commonly by fire fighters. This bar is a frequent live music, DJ dancing, burlesque performance and drag show venue. There are also frequent in-house events like a 'Smashed Spelling Bee', trivia, rummage sales and more. The Maltese was recently voted Chico's best "Safe Place" for LGBTQI+ people by the Chico News and Review, and is proud to embrace people of all genders and sexualities.
