Davis Cards & Games is a store that sells board games, card games, collectible card games, tabletop role-playing books, clever toys, and gaming accessories: card sleeves, play-mats, plushies, big-headed dolls, shirts. Snacks! Drinks!. Multiple display cases of single CCG cards. There is a fantastic library of store-copy games so you can try titles before you buy them. There's Catan, there's Fluxx, there's Carcassonne, there's Munchkin, there's Dixit. There's a lot of Euro Board Games (your favorites, and your new favorites!). Cards Against Humanity, yes. Also Sushi!Go, Pandemic, Betrayal at House on the Hill. There's Magic the Gathering, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh. DICE. So many pretty Chessex boxes in an array of sizes and colors. If you want a game title that is not in stock, it can likely be ordered for you. There's ALSO special cardboard boxes for card-management, the long narrow ones that allow you to carry your collection with you safely rather than being rubber-banded or other haphazard solution.
It is a welcome addition to the recreational scene in town. Bright, well-lit, smells good. Plenty of unrestricted parking. (north of Food Coop). There is ample playing-space with chairs: easily fits 36 on multiple long tables, available during all open hours. There's room to move around the rest of the store. (This space used to hold Sweet Briar Books, for you long-timers.) You can play with your own decks, play your own game, or borrow a library title.
The store holds weekly tournaments for popular card games such as Magic the Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Cardfight! Vanguard, Luck & Logic, Weiss Schwarz, Force of Will as well as the increasingly popular X-Wing miniatures.

2016-03-04 17:34:17 I checked out the grand opening today--looks like a nice place; small but with a lot of potential. Friendly staff, decent selection of card games and board games, and plenty of tables and chairs. I look forward to seeing how this develops as a community hub. —BarnabasTruman
