2014-10-02 10:42:42   My daughter has been attending this school for 8 months, since her second birthday. They use a Montessori curriculum with some additional curriculum added, such as some physical science which is not included in traditional Montessori curriculum, the visit for fun program (field trips) and the "make a better world" program in which the children learn about things like disability awareness, recycling, and personal safety. Since we have another child who has disabilities, I was particularly pleased that Little Friends incorporates disability awareness. Prior to starting at Little Friends, my daughter was in an in-home daycare and I felt that she could benefit from the additional structure and range of activities offered at Little Friends. It was a great move; since day one she has been happy there. The teachers are warm and caring and I think she benefits from being in class with children of mixed ages and ability levels. I am confident that she is in a safe and nurturing place, learning, and building friendships. She often gets upset if I pick her up early because she is not done playing with her friends. Part time options for childcare in Davis can be quite limited and I've found that some places do not offer part time or have limited or inflexible part time availability. Little Friends offers several different options (half day, 2 days, 3 days, etc) and they were able to be flexible when my needs changed. I've also found it to be a very good value for the high quality care they provide. —KalistaHickman

2014-11-13 21:47:25   Both of my daughters have attended Little Friends for over a year and had wonderful experiences. My oldest started attending at age 4 and is quite studious. The teachers there prepare additional materials for her nearly every day, and at age 5, she is now reading short chapter books and doing simple math (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division). My youngest started at age 2 and is quite introverted. The teachers are great at drawing her out to play with the other kids and knowing when to let her have a break and be on her own. I can't recommend Keelitha or her staff enough. The students often include children who are (or whose parents are) from other countries. As a result, my girls have even picked up a few words in Chinese and Spanish and are infinitely curious about other countries. The school has also peaked their interest in science as the administrators give science lessons. There are also field trips, festivities, and seasonal events and craft projects. And, very affordable. I've let the administrators know I am happy to provide additional information to new parents interested in enrolling their kids at the school, so if you contact them regarding joining, feel free to ask for a parent reference. —AmandaRandolph
