SARANAC LAKE - Aaron A. Hoyt, 89, of Saranac Lake, died Friday, May 28, 1999 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

Born in Westville on Oct. 22, 1909, he was the son of John and Bertha (Rockhill) Hoyt.

He married Pearl M. Warner on June 29, 1932 in Chateaugay.

Mr. Hoyt came to Saranac Lake in the early 1930s from Westville and first worked here for the New York State Conservation Department planting trees. He later worked at the Saranac Inn as an electrician until he bought his first car and started the Hoyt's taxi business, which he owned and operated for more than 50 years. Mr. Hoyt also worked for car dealerships for more than 50 years, including Kaisser-Fraser and International Trucks. He owned and operated the Lakeside Garage Chrysler dealership for 29 years until his retirement in 1979.

Following his retirement, he worked for the Olympic Regional Development Authority for many years.

Survivors include: two sons, Allen and James of Saranac Lake; one daughter, Carol Hesseltine of Saranac Lake; 16 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife; one son, Ivan Hoyt; two brothers, Edward and Bernard, and three sisters, Alice, Claire, and Joyce.

There will be no calling hours. Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A memorial mass will be held at 11:15 a.m. Thursday, June 3 at St. Bernard's Church in Saranac Lake with the Rev. Timothy Soucy officiating. Interment will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Saranac Lake Adult Center in care of the funeral home.
