Chiefly known for: A TB patient at Saranac Lake in 1905. He was around 21 years of age when he came to Saranac Lake. He was cured and went on to marry in 1911 and had one surviving child, Frank. Information provided by granddaughter, Liz Woodburn.

2011-05-18 12:25:55   Liz Woodburn reports: "Grandfather's brother married a woman, Laura Mary Penfield, two years after grandfather came to the sanatorium. She had tuberculosis and died in 1910, three years after the marriage. That marriage took place in Williamstown, Mass. We have no family connections to that area and have always wondered how Grandfather's brother met Laura Penfield. There was a lot of secrecy around the situation, perhaps due to the stigma of TB. I was curious to learn if there was a Laura Penfield at the Sanatorium when my grandfather was there in 1905. I have wondered if grandfather's brother visited him and met Laura at Saranac lake. (Grandfather's brother also contracted TB and died in 1913 in a TB sanatorium in Halifax, Canada.) I assumed he was infected by his wife." — no TB Card found for Laura Penfield. 5/18/11. —amycatania
