Mrs. Edna Thomas White, a teacher in the Saranac Lake school system for 28 years, died this morning at St. Margaret's Nursing Home in Gabriels. Her home was at 31 Hillcrest Avenue, Lake Placid.
Mrs. White, the widow of Otis White, was born Oct. 29, 1879 in Rushford, a daughter of William and Julia Tarbell Merrill.
She taught first grade and was English supervisor of the elementary grades in Saranac Lake schools until her retirement in 1942.
Survivors are a son, Merrill Thomas, of Lake Placid; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home this evening from 7 to 9 o'clock. A funeral service will be held at 1 p. m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rushford Cemetery in the spring.
Her family requests that in lieu of flowers, friends may donate in her memory to the St. Margaret's Nursing Home building fund, or to the Placid Memorial Hospital.
