Eleanor M. Walsh was a TB patient at Ray Brook when she met Frank Blum, who was a patient at Sunmount. They married and lived in Saranac Lake the rest of their lives.

Eleanor M. Blum, 86, of 27 Rockland Ave., Saranac Lake, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2007 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

Born Dec. 27, 1920 in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of Edward and Mary (McGuire) Walsh. She married Francis Blum on Dec. 27, 1947 at the Mary Queen of Heaven Church in Brooklyn. Blum worked for E.R. Squibb & Sons and the N.Y. Telephone Co. in Brooklyn. While in Saranac Lake, she worked for Karl Kaplan in Ray Brook, Helmer Brothers Distributors for nine years, and the Saranac Lake General Hospital on the switchboard for five years, retiring in 1990.

She is survived by her husband, Francis and one brother, Donald McCarron and his wife Grace, of Bound Brook, N.J. She was predeceased by her parents; three brothers: Arthur Walsh, John McCarren, and Joseph McCarren of Albany; and one sister, Mrs. Walter (Elizabeth) Smith.
