FRED BETTERS DIES IN ALBANY

Fred V. Betters, a postman in Saranac Lake for 44 years died at 5 p.m. yesterday in the Albany Medical Center where he had been a patient several days. Mr. Betters was 64 years old.

He was born in Saranac Lake Dec. 24, 1894, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Betters of Kiwassa Road. He served in the army in France during World War I. He was a postman in this village until his retirement in 1950. Mr. Betters was a member of the American Legion and the Elks Club.

The body was to have been brought to Saranac Lake today where it will repose at the Keough and Son Funeral Home until time of services. Funeral arrangements were incomplete.

Survivors include has wife, the former Mabel C. Wright, who is living at 52 Duprey Street; a daughter, Elizabeth, of East Hartford, Conn.; and a son, Edward James, of Saranac Lake; also, four sisters, Mrs. Pauline Hammond of Quebec; Mrs. Lillian O'Neil, Springfield, Mass., Mrs. Elizabeth Beals and Miss Winifred Betters of Saranac Lake. Two brothers, James and Richard, of this village also survive, along with several grandchildren.
