Paul F. Kennedy Jr. was a World War II veteran.  He was a son of Paul F. and Betty (Oxenrider) Kennedy Sr.

SARANAC LAKE — Paul F. Kennedy Jr., 69, of Vermontville, died suddenly Tuesday, Sept. 7, 1993 at his home.

Born Jan. 27, 1924 in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of Paul F. and Betty (Oxenrider) Kennedy Sr.

On Sept. 10, 1949 he married Kathleen Bell at St. Paul's Church in Bloomingdale.

A resident of the area since 1947, he moved here from Hartville, Ohio and was employed by the Paul Smiths Electric Company, and later Niagara Mohawk Co., from 1948 until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, the American Legion Post 447 and served as a town councilman for the town of Franklin for 16 years. He is also a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Patricia Smith of Enfield, Conn, and Dr. Debbie Kennedy of Albany; a son, Roger of Gainesville, Fla.; his stepfather, Deb Carmichael of Zephyrhills, Fla.; two stepsisters, Delores Moor of Doylestown, Pa. and Janice Ruby of Zephyrhills, Fla.; and a granddaughter, Sarah Smith of Enfield, Conn.

Calling hours will be held at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. An American Legion service will be held Friday at 7:45 p.m., with a Bible vigil immediately following at 8. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Paul's Church in Bloomingdale, the Rev. Patrick Mundy officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul's Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department Rescue Squad in care of the funeral home.
