Robert E. Hickok was a Korean War veteran.  He was a son of Roger and Minnie (Downes) Hickok.

Robert E. Hickok, 70

Robert Emery Hickok, 70, of Fish Creek Ponds, Saranac Lake, died Monday, August 20, 2001 at his home.

Born February 5, 1931 in Saranac Lake, he was the son of Roger and Minnie (Downes) Hickok.

Mr. Hickok was a graduate of Saranac Lake Central School class of 1949.

He married Carolyn Clark on May 5, 1953 at the Bloomingdale Methodist Church.

He was self employed in the family business, Hickok's Boat Livery, which has operated since 1926. He served with the Town of Santa Clara Highway Department as a snow plow operator and Highway Superintendent until his retirement on August 1, 1999.

Mr. Hickok was a member of the Bloomingdale Methodist Church. He served active combat duty in Korea from January 26, 1951 until November 7, 1952 when he was transferred lo the Army reserve. He was a member of the VFW Post 3120 in Tupper Lake.

Mr. Hickok is survived by his wife, Carolyn, two sons, Robert Roger Hickok and his wife Lynn of Saranac Lake; William Bryan Hickok and his wife Julie of Bloomingdale, NY; a daughter, Carrol Anne Hickok of Colchester, VT, a granddaughter Megan A. Hickok of Saranac Lake, and a grandson, Dale R. Hickok of Saranac Lake.

He was predeceased by his father, Roger Robert Hickok, and his mother, Minnie E. Downs.

Calling hours will be at Fortune-Keough-Funeral Home, Inc., today (Wednesday, August 22) from 7 - 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held Thursday, August 23, at 11 a.m. at Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, with the Reverend Andrea Sears officiating. Cremation will follow with burial in Brookside Cemetery in Bloomingdale.
