Victor E. Lapine as chairman of the Harrietstown Housing Authority and directed building of the Lake Flower Apartments. He also had a hand in planning the DeChantal Apartments. He served on the Harrietstown board. According to village directories he lived at 124 Broadway from 1948 to 1969.

V.E. LaPine dies at 84

SARANAC LAKE — Victor E. LaPine of 20 Church Street a leader in providing housing for the elderly in Saranac Lake, died at Saranac Lake General Hospital this morning. He was 84.

He was instrumental in planning the DeChantal Apartments and, as chairman of the Harrietstown Housing Authority, he directed building of the Lake Flower Apartments.

He was born in Cadyville to Richard and Saranah Norcross LaPine, on Dec. 25, 1891.

He leaves his wife the former Mildred M. Hillyard. They were married in Glens Falls on Oct. 13, 1919.

They came to Saranac Lake in 1941 after he retired from the Army as a master sergeant.

He also leaves several nieces and nephews.

He was a member of the Elks, the Masons, Odd Fellows, Shriners, American Legion, and the VFW.

He had served as a Harrietstown board member.

Repose is at the Fortune Funeral Home starting this evening at 7 p m. and tomorrow from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday there will be a veteran's service at 7:30 p.m., an Elks service at 8 p.m., and a Masonic service at 8:30p.m.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Episcopalian Church with the Rev Philip Snyder officiating. Interment will follow in Cadyville.
