Services all major appliances and brands. Everyone gives them 5 stars on Yelp. My washer wouldn't do its final spin; Monty came out (20 minutes earlier than the time scheduled!), quickly diagnosed the problem and fixed it with no hassles. Didn't try to jack up the price by adding unnecessary parts—he only needed to make some adjustments and do some lubing to get it work properly. Quick, clean, and efficient.

Paul just repaired my dryer. Called Monday, and Paul was out and had it fixed the next afternoon. Service calls are $99, and in this case that was the total bill. I had a fix or replace dilemma with the 17yo dryer and a 25 yo dishwasher that he said needed a $180 circuit board. The dryer was worth it, and the dishwasher wasn't. Good to have the advice. A great experience all around. I agree with Peggy, very nice people to deal with.
I noticed his card says factory authorized service for Fisher-paykel, Asko, Miele and out-of-warranty for Viking, Whirlpool/maytag, Kitchen-aid, Creda/GE.

Update on Joe Chan (6/8/11) - Joe has cut back his work hours to Monday, Wednesday, and Friday only. His number is the same. -cjasper

Joe Chan called me promptly when his message machine said he returns calls. He was very friendly but said he doesn't work on small appliances; it often costs more to repair than to replace. He asked me what broke, I described it and he told me how to find the part online and that I should be able to fix it. After finding a few parts places online I thought I'd check around locally and found Appliance Repair Express in San Jose at Camden and Union. They were great. They have the part and the tech asked me how it broke and after explaining that I was trying to figure out how to add oil because I think my mixer needs lubing since it's squeaking, he recommended leaving it and they'll lube it and replace the carbon brush for about $60. He said my machine (a wedding gift from my grandma 20 years ago) is very well-made and they don't make them like that anymore - it's totally worth it to fix. Hooray!

Anyway, for all you folks with small appliances that just need repairing or parts, this store is great.

I highly recommend JOST HVAC & SHEET METAL, INC. after flooding the hallway from a clogged washer pipe/drain, we hired JOST to build a galvinized steel square "water tight" basin to fit around the base of our washer. we gave them the specs and within 48 hours they had welded the perfect fitted basin for our needs. only $75.00 for this job. here is their information:

I called all of these repair services to fix my microwave when its fan switch broke. (The fan turned on when I opened the door.) I've provided info about each one:

Ace Appliance, Sunnyvale - (408) 737-0100

Fixed my refrigerator in 2003. Minimum charge $49.95 to diagnose - counts toward repair if you have them do the work. Cost me $70 total for them to replace two boards in the electronics of my fridge. Efficient, reliable, reasonably priced, all-round good experience. Called, but they couldn't come out right away, so I went with Joe Chan (see below). As of 12/07 the min. charge is $59.95

GE In-Home Repair Service - (800) 432-2737

They charge $70 to come out and diagnose. That amount does NOT count toward the repair cost. I stopped listening after that, but their hourly charge is higher than all of the independents.

Joe Chan - (650) 960-0968

Makes his call-backs between 8-9pm - $61 minimum, which covers the first 15 minutes; $15 for each 15 minutes after that. Joe fixed my microwave in under 30 minutes, including removing it from the cabinet it's built into. He was on time, efficient, had the right part with him, and charged what he said he'd charge. I fourth the recommendation!

Appliance Parts is down in San Jose by Valley Fair. They used to have one in Mountain View, but no more. It isn't a bad drive. Get off at Winchester, turn right onto Stevens Creek, then go up and over 880/17 and it is about a 1/4 mile on the right. (November 2008)
The place I've dealt with isn't that close but not too far: Stevens Creek Blvd east of 880 a few blocks. I think they are called All Appliance Parts or something like that.(November 2008)
