Peaceful Pathways In-Home Pet Hospice and Euthanasia

Dr. Chrissy Metzger, VMD, (650) 316-5069

Dr. Metzger will come to your home, medicate and put down your pets. We had a very sick cat and he needed urgent care. She was kind and compassionate, and tried to minimize our stress, despite it being a stressful process.

Los Altos Veterinary Clinic

Dr. Christine Yee, DVM, 650-948–8287

Dr. Yee was good with our cats and helped with keeping track of their vaccines. The office is in a nearby location, and fairly affordable for a vet.

Stanford Pet Clinic

Dr. Beryl Mell, 4111 El Camino Real, Palo Alto, CA 94306, (650) 493-4233

I have been happy for many years with Dr. Mell at Stanford Pet Clinic located on El Camino just
north of Charleston. I have taken all my pets there - including having surgery done on my daughter's rat for a nominal cost. They have an on site kennel, but refer you to South Peninsula Vet Emergency Clinic on Middlefield, which has provided us service as well. I don't know about prices as I have not used another vet in the area for many years. We took our rabbits there and were very happy with him.

Alpine Animal Hospital

2460 W. El Camino, 969-8555

Yes, I take my kitty there. I used Adobe and it seemed like a factory....I took her there for an absess and surgery....when i had questions and worries that it was still infected and wanted to take her in to see it...they wanted to charge me all over again....at that point I left adobe. I took Kitty into be seen at Alpine in he said it was nothing...just scar tissue and did not even charge me. The truth is, I just wanted the doctor who did the surgery to look at it...and she would not even do that without a whole new charge...... I am sure if she had, I would still be going to Adobe, but I am glad I made the change because this doctor is older and really knows what he is doing. It turned out that my chiropractor works with him when adjustments are called for. So, he is knowledgeable, seasoned, open minded and fair.

Adobe Animal Hospital, Los Altos

It has been a few years since I've had a dog so I don't know who is running Adobe nor what their attitude is. I started with them ~1980 and they were terrific back then. They stayed that way through 2 generations of dogs - about 20 years. Dr. Dave Roos was our doctor for all those years and was calling the shots I believe. If he is still in charge... or even if he isn't - I am sure that he would very much like to hear about the problems you had. He cared a lot about the care the dogs received. In fact, my male German Shepard really didn't like going there. Between the slick floors that he slid across, the noises of the animals in pain and (shutter) the shots, he hasn't happy at all. So Dr. Roos would come out to my van in the parking lot to take care of him!!!

It is sad to hear that they have become poor and caused you & others aggravation. I don't know if they'll improve nor if you want to spend any more time dealing with them. I just remember how nice and how good they used to be.

I love Dr. Sara Skiwski, who does integrative, holistic medicine.
She is best reached her website at [WWW]http://www.thewesterndragon.com
She works one day a week out of Adobe, but you can see her other locations, too.

More comments about Adobe Animal Hospital by Pat Jordan

I finally switched to Adobe after numerous disappointments with Alta View Animal Hospital. Although Adobe is a zoo, very noisy and busy, they have good vets who are on time for their appointments and seem to know what they are doing. They do not overprescribe treatments and are good at follow up. I use Dr. Koga there who is no-nonesense and is quite accomplished. I have three cats and adore them so want only the best care.

Dr. William Klein, Village Square Vet Hospital

884 Portola Rd. Portola Valley, CA, 650-851-3244

I worked for Dr. William Klein at Village Square Vet Hosp. in Portola Valley for 5yrs known him for 10yrs. He is the BEST. I can't recommend him enough. He has 2 other Vet's in the Office Dr. William St. Lawrence and Dr. Samanski. Both are EXCELLENT too. I would never take my dogs anywhere else. He might be a little pricey on somethings but it's well worth it. He lets you know the truth about situations and doesn't hesitate to refer when needed. He also has on occassion given people payment plans just so the animal gets the proper care. He and Dr. St. Lawrence are excellent surgeons and Dr. Samanski specializes in eye care. I've known her for about 15yrs.

Cathy Jennings, D.V.M of Waggin' Wheels

She is mobile vet and is very reasonable. My dogs are rescues and are very fearful so it is wonderful that she comes to the house. They have become very comfortable with her. Her phone number is 650-298-8508

At this point this vet is too busy to take new clients, but he did give me the name of another vet locally who does housecalls: Beth Martinson 408.249.2453

Alta View

We've had excellent service from Alta View, on Showers near El Camino.
They take care of cats and dogs, and have done a great job with our
small cat who's aLways getting herself into trouble.

We also have been happy with Alta View. We tried Miramonte and Adobe
first, neither of them seemed to notice that one of our cat's kidneys
was twenty times the size of the other.

More comments about Alta View, by Pat Jordan:

I went to Alta View for years with my cats and was happy at first. Dr. Ghumann was compassionate and seemed competent. However, over time, it seems too many tests were run on the cats, and the costs were very high. Plus, I was kept waiting for long periods of time even when they didn't seem busy. And, my oldest cat would have a set back everytime he came home from Alta View. Something went on in there that really upset him. So finally, I switched to Adobe Animal Hospital, and my cats are doing better.

Peninsula Animal Dermatology

(650) 365-6826 - 1411 El Camino Real, Redwood City - 94063 (cross street Maple)

In extreme distress, I finally went to this specialist, upon the recommendation of my vet at Adobe Animal Hospital. They had done all they could to treat a severe and chronic ear infection for my cat, Munchkin. It was diagnosed in July, 2007, and they tried everything for 7 months before finally recommending a specialist. I would not fault them for waiting that long. It apparently is a very, very tricky problem with cats. Who would have known? It took 2 visits and a strict regime of antibiotics and ear medication, but Munchkin turned the corner and the infection was healed. He continued to go back for rechecks for two whole years and was finally declared free & clear. I do, however, have to clean that formerly infected ear, once every 10 days for the rest of his life, to make sure it doesn't reinfect itself. So don't take ear infections lightly!!

I hate to think of where this could have gone if I had not sought this advice. So just like people, animals sometimes need to see a specialist as well. By the way, this is $$$ expensive, but if you love your animal, it is the way to go. (First visit $325, second $250, third $150).

Dr. Walt McCall DVM, Campbell Pet Clinic

I've used Dr. Walt McCall DVM (Campbell Pet Clinic) in Campbell for years
now and highly recommend him.
not for the late night emergencies. On the rare occasion we've needed
that we have used Adobe. However for quality long term care, routine maintainence,
chronic issues, and older animals he's excellent. He has decades as a standard
allopathic vet and also has years adding complimentray care to that. A great
holistic vet! For a look at his website [WWW]http://www.nrgvet.com - (408) 378-5190
