In the past 21 years, Moore County has hosted three U.S. Opens and three U.S. Women’s Opens. With so many amazing courses in the area, Pinehurst has become an obvious host for the tournament.

Pinehurst No. 2 is admired worldwide for its complexity and fast greens.  The greens roll at approximately an 11.5 pace during the tournaments. This makes it a thrilling tournament to watch for viewers since the USGA considers 10.5 the fastest recommended speed for the U.S. Open.

The Opens have had an amazing economic impact on the local community and the state of North Carolina. The 2014 tournament had a statewide economic impact of $238 million, which is a 40 percent increase from the original estimated economic impact.

When visitors come to the area for the tournament, they not only get to experience great golf but also get to experience the small town community. Local boutiques and restaurants offer a one of a kind experience for visitors. Visitors spent nearly $140 million during the last U.S. Open.

The U.S. Open will return to Pinehurst in 2024.
