Bus Rapid Transit - Oakland

Oakland does not have a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system. City Council unanimously approved a BRT proposal during the July 30th, 2013 City Council meeting. Add details about the proposal and the progress thus far here!

According to Noel Gallo in a message to his constituents on July 30th, 2013:

The East Bay Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project is a $178 million dollar investment in the community that will improve transportation between Downtown Oakland and the city of San Leandro by having environmentally friendly buses through International Boulevard. These 9.2 miles of dedicated travel lanes, level boarding platforms, and real time arrival signs will beautify our community. The city of Oakland, San Leandro and the Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District will work together to execute this project which is currently at the 35% Design stage. The impacts to the Fruitvale District will be significant. I encourage all to learn more about this important project. Tonight's Council agenda includes a report and resolution to enter into a master cooperative agreement with AC-Transit for the final design and construction phases of the project.
