Dimond Branch Library is located in the Dimond District of Oakland, California and is one of sixteen neighborhood libraries of the Oakland Public Library system. 

The Dimond Branch has approximately 60,000 books, CDs, DVDs, audio books, magazines and newspapers, with a strong emphasis on practical how-to topics and fiction.

Special interest collections include the following:

  •  Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual/Transgender collection
  •  Chinese language collection
  •  Spanish language collection
  •  Arabic collection
  •  Seed lending library

Additionally, this branch has a 75 person capacity meeting room, eight computers with internet access.

The Dimond Branch was started in 1914 by the Fruitvale Women's Club and opened at its current location on February 23, 1980 on a piece of property donated by Mr. and Mrs. John Rohan.  If you look carefully at the photo above, you can see the official name "Dimond-Rohan branch" on the facade of the building. Previous incarnations of the library were located at various addresses on the same block of Fruitvale, around the corner on Hopkins (now MacArthur), and, from 1972-1980, at 3483 Champion in the space currently occupied by the Curves fitness center next to the Diamond (sic) Auto Repair shop.
