The Eastbay Astronomical Society (EAS) is a group of amateur astronomers formed in 1924 and headquartered at the Chabot Space and Science Center. , with whom they are partners alongside the Oakland Public Schools and Oakland Parks  System. They are a non-profit supported by membership dues and donations.

Members help staff and maintain the telescopes at CSSC, provide expertise and volunteer support for the Center and its science exhibits, participate in outreach programs (including star parties), and educate students and visitors in the field of astronomy.

EAS conducts monthly meetings featuring presentations on a variety of topics by distinguished speakers.  The organization administers a "Loaner Scope Program" for members. They also manage a weekly "Telescope Makers Workshop" at Chabot and will help members of the public build their own telescope, from grinding their own mirrors to the final construction of their tube and mount.
