Jumoke Hinton Hodge is a long-time Oakland community leader and activist. She is the District 3 representative for the Oakland Unified School District Board of Education and the Board's Vice President. She is also involved with the People's Grocery and the West Oakland Project Area Committee. On Friday, March 1, 2019, Jumoke was caught on tape choking an elementary school teacher at a picket line at La Escuelita School in Oakland California.
