For the past 20 years, Rebuilding Together Oakland (formerly Christmas in April) has brought communities and volunteers together to repair the homes of low income homeowners in Oakland so they may live in safety, comfort and independence.

RTO selects homes to help repair/rebuild based on need-based referrals. They offer rebuilding for seniors, energy efficiency upgrades, and safety modifications for seniors and the disabled. RTO will also help with projects in facilities that serve community based organizations.

Volunteers must be at least 14 years old (with parental permission). All sites are within Oakland (but there are other RTs around). RTO accepts corporate groups, individual volunteers, neighborhood and community groups, and skilled volunteers.
