In 2016, the Giraphics mural under I-580 at Harrison St. and Oakland Avenue is being restored by original artist Dan Fontes with help from Kristi Holohan.
The mural was originally painted in 1984. Some parts of it were repainted in 1994 because of seismic retrofit work. Thanks to some left-over supplies from the Animurals restoration, and a gift from Phil Tagami, the much-loved giraffes are being restored, too.
