In November 2001, a group of more than 40 young business leaders from across the Triangle came together to raise funds for the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Through these efforts, more than $60,000 was raised for the DC and NYC relief funds in an event that brought more than 1,000 people together from around the Triangle.

In 2003, Band Together NC became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, whose mission is to raise awareness and funds for a different local cause each year through high-profile music events. Charities are chosen through a rigorous selection process. Events showcase popular regional and national bands and raise money for organizations through ticket sales and corporate sponsorships. Band Together NC has raised funds for Special Olympics of NC, Operation Smile International, Music Maker Relief Foundation, Stop Hunger Now (Tsunami relief) , the Food Bank (Katrina relief), Wake County’s Boys and Girls Clubs, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of The Triangle, SAFEchild, the Lucy Daniels Center for Early Childhood, StepUP Ministry, Alliance Medical Ministry, and Urban Ministry.

Collectively, 23,500 event-goers, hundreds of volunteers and numerous sponsors have donated almost $1.5 million in NET proceeds to these hard working nonprofits.

Band Together NC has been awarded The Independent Weekly’s coveted Citizen Award, for its contributions to the Triangle community, as well as The Association of Fundraising Professional’s Special Recognition Award.
