Welcome to San Jose. If you're new to the area, there's a lot to do. Here's a page to get you started.

Housing can be a big challenge in San Jose. Costs are high, and the market is tight. Once you find a place, check out Bargains/Thrift for suggestions on where to find good deals on furniture and other things.

If you are moving (not just visiting) here from outside of California, you need to apply for a California driver license within 10 days. It's a very good idea to make an appointment at the DMV to avoid long waits.

Or avoid driving and traffic. Find out about Bicycling or Public Transportation, instead. Buy a Clipper Card for easy access to VTA, Caltrain, bart, and other transit options.

If you're new to the country, you may wish to visit this page of resources on Citizenship and immigration assistance.

(This page needs more about utilities, banking, learning English, voter registration, and many other things. Please feel free to add to it.)
