The Native Animal Rescue of Santa Cruz County coordinates numerous rescue events all along the county, they seek the help of volunteers to maintain their operations. Several positions are available for the volunteers including animal care, cleaning, data entry, telephone attendant, animal home rehabilitation, fundraising, and many more. Volunteers are the backbone of Native Animal Rescue. As a volunteer, your contribution helps give wildlife a second chance. Native Animal Rescue is a great place for people who are passionate about wildlife conservation. Even if you don’t work directly with the animals, volunteering at Native Animal Rescue is a powerful and extremely satisfying experience.

To be a Native Animal Rescue volunteer, you must:

  • be at least 18 years of age.*

  • work within Native Animal Rescue’s guidelines.

  • understand that the goal of Native Animal Rescue is to release animals into the wild.

  • attend a one four hour training session per year in order to provide direct animal care or to rescue or transport animals.

*Children who are 16 and 17 can volunteer if the parent or guardian provides written permission.
*Children who are under 16 can volunteer in they are accompanied by an adult.

Beach Rescues for help rescuing sea birds including Pelicans, Gulls, Killdeer, Cormorants, Grebes, etc.
