Serve the Bay began as ShareFest Santa Cruz County, sponsored by many area churches to serve the people of Santa Cruz County with giving & thousands of hours of service.

It’s developed into continuing activities during the year for volunteers from local churches & others to assist public schools, shelters, museums, parks, & others by giving & serving the community. Serve the Bay is ShareFest with a new name.

"'What kinds of projects are done, and how are they chosen?"' Each church decides if they want to identify their own projects and focus within their immediate church neighborhood or do a “city reach” project in one of the cities of Santa Cruz County. If your church needs suggestions, we have some available. Projects include painting, fixing, cleaning, or beautifying schools, shelters, neighborhoods, senior homes, sprucing up playgrounds in public parks or schools, river and beach cleanup.

Last year, thanks to the 900 volunteers from 19 churches, a school and an organization who participated, our community received a total of 3,500 hours of service, hundreds of thousands of pounds of food, & cash donations to two other organizations that serve our community.

In 2010 20 churches were involved in 37 projects. Thank you to all those who give and serve!
