Michael Coll grew up working in his family’s business and he understands the challenges and struggles directly facing small business owners across Ward 16. Michael Coll is a certified firefighter who for over the past decade has worked in the private sector as an occupational safety and security professional. Michael’s commitment to a safer community is evident in his Pedestrian Pledge, which is directly aimed at making the communities of Ward 16 safer. 

 

Affordability/ Livability

• Committed to bring forward a motion to remove the punitive land transfer tax. 

• Committed to holding the line on property taxes for home owners.

• Committed to getting the best value for your tax dollars at City Hall.

Traffic Congestion

• Fully supports the immediate implementation of the Downtown Relief Line to improve daily commutes.
• Ready to invest in the signal switches that will improve commuting times.
• Will work to identify efficiencies though water line and road work construction coordination.

Small Business Prosperity

• Will hold regular small business community roundtables to engage businesses in the decision process.
• Will minimize potential Crosstown LRT construction disruptions through proactive consultation with
​ the affected business community.
​• Will work with business improvement associations to maximize investments lower commercial tax rates.

Crime & Safety

• Will reinstate the pedestrian committee and introduce initiatives to reduce fatalities and collisions.

• Will work directly with Toronto Police Service to protect the community and reduce property crimes.

• Will work with community partners to renew and expand our Neighbourhood Watch program.
