History

The close proximity to Yorkville allows Yongesterdam to be the spiritual if not official heir of the 60's counter culture in Toronto and is home to today's cannabis culture.

Under the radar of most Torontonians but well known to those in the know, Yongesterdam began circa 1994 with the opening of the Toronto Hemp Company at 665 Yonge Street .

From that single store to the few more now open along Yonge Street, Toronto ended up with a budding cannabis district.
