The Greater Essex County District School Board

The G.E.C.D.S. board was formed on January 1, 1998 with the amalgamation of the Windsor and Essex County Boards of Education. It has schools in fifteen municipalities: Amherstburg, Belle River, Comber, Cottam, Emeryville, Essex, Harrow, Kingsville, LaSalle, Leamington, Pelee Island, St. Clair Beach, Tecumseh, Wheatley, and Windsor.  As of 2023, thee GECDSB operates 54 elementary schools, 14 secondary schools, and 3 alternative secondary schools.

The Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board

As of September, 2013 the W.E.C.S.D board overseas 10 secondary schools and 36 elementary schools. For the year of 2013-2014, its elementary schools had an enrollment of 13,772 elementary school students (64% of total), 7791 secondary school students (36% of total) and 188 adult learners.  Staff numbers included 786 elementary staff, 510 secondary staff, 259 educational assistants and 570 non-teaching staff.  Its 2013-214 operating budget was $244,523,159 and its capital budget was $15,277,213.
