ArborBike is the name of a bicycle sharing program designed to be launched in Ann Arbor in fall 2014. The ArborBike program is owned and operated by Clean Energy Coalition, a 501c3 non profit organization based in Ann Arbor. Clean Energy Coalition developed the program in partnership with the City of Ann Arbor, the University of Michigan, and the Ann Arbor Area Transit Authority

Project History

  • December 28, 2012 - the Ann Arbor Transit Authority issued a Request for Proposals for bike share equipment. Six responses were received. The selection committee chose B-cycle to provide bicycles, stations, and software.
  • August 8, 2013 - the Ann Arbor City Council approved a resolution to match federal funds to design, procure, and install a bicycle sharing program to serve the city of Ann Arbor. 
  • March 17, 2014 - the Ann Arbor District Library board approved the location of a bike share station on the library property.
