Obituary

Donald M. Miller, age 76, died Friday, April 9, 2010. He was born on December 11, 1933 in Ann Arbor, MI, the son of Marvin E. and Pauline M. (Davison) Miller. Don retired from The Ann Arbor News after 45 years. He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and a former member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Ann Arbor. Don served in the National Guard from 1952-61. Don was a charter member of the Ann Arbor High School class of 1952 reunion committee. He was president of Clear Lake Association for many years. He spent many hours on the lake with his family. Don loved woodworking, sailing and camping. The highlight of many years was attending his grandchildren's sporting events. On June 18, 1955, he married Angela Maas, and she survives. Other survivors include his four children, Donna (Anthony) Robards, Barbara (Dave Brief) Miller, Cheryl (Chris) Kolb, and Brad (Linda) Miller; seven grandchildren, Jason (Ashley) Risner, Jessica Risner, Melissa Robards, Nicholas and Kayla Kolb, Ashley and Makenzie Miller; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, David E. Miller. Funeral services will be 11 am Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Chelsea, MI, with Rev. Dale Grimm officiating. A private burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Waterloo at a later date. The family will receive friends at the Cole Funeral Chapel Monday 2-8 p.m. and at the church Tuesday from 10-11 a.m. Memorials may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church, the Huron Valley Humane Society, or to U of M Cancer Research, c/o Drs. Mark Calupski and David C. Smith.
