Mildred L. Schembechler, wife of former head football coach Bo Schembechler, died Aug. 19, 1992 at University Hospital after an eight-month battle with a rare form of adrenal cancer. She was 63.

After Schembechler married Mildred (Millie) in 1968, he adopted her three sons: Donald (Chip), Geoffrey and Matthew. Schembechler and Millie then had a son together, Glenn III (Shemy). Chip died in a car accident in 2003.
