Ron Asheton (July 17, 1948 - c. December 29, 2009) was an original member of The Stooges, a garage-rock band headlined by Iggy Pop and formed in Ann Arbor in 1967.
He was ranked as the 29th greatest rock guitarist by Rolling Stone magazine in 2003.
Asheton died in his Ann Arbor west side home in January 2009.
