Seasonal Maintenance
Canton Township ordinance states that no person shall permit ice or an accumulation of snow to remain on any sidewalk for a period longer than 72 hours. This ordinance is theoretically enforced by Canton Public Safety but it is unclear if this actually happens.
Tree Planting Partnership Program
Vouchers for the 2010 Tree Planting Partnership Program are now available to individual homeowners. Due to a limited number of vouchers, homeowner associations are not eligible. The vouchers can be used to plant new trees or replace dead trees on any lot or parcel between the sidewalk and the curb line of the street. Applications for tree program vouchers can be downloaded or picked up in person at the Planning Services counter. All applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information on this program, contact the Canton Township Planning Services Division at 734-394-5170.
