Canton Township provides a number of guidelines, ordinances, and other information related to home improvements.
Annual Home Improvement Expo
Saturday March 6, 2010 9am-5pm Sunday March 7, 2010 11am-5pm Summit on the Park Free admission
The 2010 Expo will feature more than 100 vendors specializing in interior decorating, landscaping, flooring, plumbing, kitchen repairs, decks, and other home improvement areas.
Mini-workshops will be held in the Parkview Room on a variety of topics from landscaping to installing brick retaining walls, crown moldings and ceramic tile.
Canton Township ordinance states that no person shall permit ice or an accumulation of snow to remain on any sidewalk for a period longer than 72 hours. This ordinance is theoretically enforced by Canton Public Safety but it is unclear if this actually happens.
Tree Planting Partnership Program
Vouchers for the 2010 Tree Planting Partnership Program are now available to individual homeowners. Due to a limited number of vouchers, homeowner associations are not eligible. The vouchers can be used to plant new trees or replace dead trees on any lot or parcel between the sidewalk and the curb line of the street. Applications for tree program vouchers can be downloaded or picked up in person at the Planning Services counter. All applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information on this program, contact the Canton Township Planning Services Division at 734-394-5170.
