The Chico Museum (formerly the Chico Public Library) has been offering a glimpse of local history for more than 20 years. The building is a former Carnegie Library building. They have both permanent and changing exhibits. The permanent exhibits are a timeline of Chico's history dating back to 1830 and the Chico Taoist Temple. The current temporary exhibit hosts a large collection of circus memorabilia, which was donated by a local Chico area family. Group tours can be arranged, both during the regular open hours, as well as in the mornings before the museum opens (must be arranged in advance). The museum is free to visit, but donations are always welcomed! They also have volunteer and internship opportunities if you would like to help out. If you would like any souvenirs from your visit, they do have a gift store with various books, t-shirts, videos, posters and more.
