Walgreens is a chain of drugstores and pharmacies with three locations in Chico. The East Avenue location is the only 24 hour pharmacy in the entire city, so if you have a medical emergency and need a prescription at an odd hour in the middle of the night, you will likely find yourself at Walgreens. The Nord Avenue location has a drive through pharmacy.

In addition to the usual pharmacy offerings, both locations offer photo finishing services and does ink cartridge refills.

The old East Avenue store (which used to be an old Safeway building) was demolished to build a new standalone 17,000 square foot store with a drive thru pharmacy. The store opened in 2010.

A new Walgreens store opened at the former location of the Deluxe Inn, and the new Esplanade store has a drive-thru pharmacy.

Walgreens stopped selling alcohol in most of their stores in the '90s; however, they have announced plans to add alcohol to some of their stores in the near future. The East Avenue store carries beer and wine.
