Growing Pains: Thirty Years in the History of Davis is a book by Mike Fitch that chronicles a thirty year period of Davis' town history up until 1998. In 1994, Fitch was selected by the city Historical Resources Management Commission to write a book about the changes and developments that had occurred in Davis in recent decades. The book was intended to be a continuation in historical narrative from the point in time where Davisville ’68 by Joanne Leach Larkey left off. Chapters focus on topics such as the 1972 election, the UCD Meyer era, Mace Ranch, downtown, and a range of various planning issues. A public draft has been made available, in print at the Yolo County Library - Davis Branch, and for free online, at http://www.city.davis.ca.us/city/parks/histres/30years. The city's decision to sponsor the book was made in 1992 to honor Davis' 75th anniversary of incorporation.
