Cork Oak in front of Mrak Hall The scientific name of cork oak is Quercus suber. They are a drought tolerant species, which makes them especially suited to summers in Davis. The leaves are green, with a grayish underside. As the name implies, Cork Oaks' bark is a source of cork, though most around here aren't considered commercial quality.
