John R. Hogan operated Hogan's Pharmacy in the late 1800s and early 1900s, where Charlie Green's Market would later be located. He served as a commissioner of the Saranac Lake Schools in 1905, and as a Village Trustee in 1925 and 1926. He was a member of the T.B. Society. Patricia G. Harvey was his granddaughter.

A 50-year service medal in recognition of his devotion to the Masonic Order was presented to John R. Hogan by the Grand Lodge of Masons of the State of New York.

Mr. and Mrs. John R. Hogan have returned to their home at 47 Main street. They spent the winter visiting their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Grambling in El Paso, Texas.
