Willard B. Green taught instrumental music at Petrova School.  He was later appointed director of the Plattsburgh Boys Band.

The name sometimes appears as "Greene."

William Barnum Green

SIMSBURY, Conn. — William Barnum Green, 91, formerly of Saranac Lake, died Saturday, July 23, 1994 at the Hughes Convalescent Home in West Hartford.

Born April 18, 1903 in Binghamton, he was the son of Egbert and Lilliette (Barnum) Green. A graduate of Binghamton High School and Potsdam State Teachers College, he received bachelor's and master's degrees in music education.

While living in New York he taught in Brushton, Cortland, Saranac Lake and Croton-on-Hudson prior to moving to West Hartford, where he lived for more than 52 years. He accepted a position in the Hartford School System in 1941. He also taught at the University of Hartford and directed the band at Trinity College for several years. He retired in 1967.

He was a member of the Connecticut Society of Genealogists and the Connecticut Historical Society.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Willard B. (Patricia) Green Jr. of Harwinton, Conn.; a daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Richard B. (Barbara) Siegrist of Simsbury, Conn.; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, Loraine Dickert Green, who died July 17, 1994.

A memorial service was scheduled for today at the Vincent Funeral Home in Simsbury, Conn. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.
