Bittersweet Cafe is as chocolate cafe with two locations in Oakland: 5427 College Avenue in Rockridge and 1438 Broadway in Downtown. These cafes are very dangerous, and if you haven't been to one of them, you may want to keep it that way. They serve a variety of hot drinks with the standard assortment of coffees, but their menu also includes some serious chocolate beverages including the "Spicy," which is spicy hot chocolate like Mexican hot chocolate, a peanut butter confection and a salted caramel hot chocolate. When made with soy milk these are more like puddings than hot chocolate. (Don't worry, they also have pudding.) There's a bakery case full of goodies including a giant home made Oreo that's better than it sounds, and it sounds really good.
The Downtown location has salads and sandwiches and stuff, and both locations have to-go chocolate, of course.
Bittersweet bakes products in the Downtown store and the Rockridge store.
You can even see their recipes online, which is, again both amazing and dangerous.
