June Rutledge was the founder and president of the Piedmont Historical Society, and a columnist for the Piedmont-Oakland Bulletin, a weekly newspaper which was based in Oakland, California. She was one of the seven victims of the 1982 Caldecott Tunnel Fire.
The June Rutledge Piedmont History Room, named in her honor, is a part of the Piedmont Historical Society, and is located in the foyer of the Piedmont Recreation Center.
