Providence Hospital was founded in 1902 by the Sisters of Providence, and was located in Oakland, California. Between 1904 to 1972 the hospital conducted a nursing school, from which 1,515 nurses graduated.
In 1992 Providence Hospital was merged with Merritt Peralta Medical Center, and it is now part of the Summit Campus of the Alta Bates Summit Medical Center. Renamed Providence Pavilion North, the building is located at 3100 Summit Street, Oakland, on what is known as Pill Hill.
