Margaret Rau Koch (April 13, 1918-January 7, 2011) was a local historian who wrote several volumes about the area, and she was a staff writer for the Santa Cruz Sentinel from 1957-1981.

Koch grew up in the area and lived here for most of her life. She was a fourth-generation resident, and lived on her grandparents' property. Born Margaret Rau, she married Ed Koch in 1938. She published six books total.
