The Marina District is found on the northern end of San Francisco, along the Golden Gate portion of the bay. It is surrounded by the Presidio to the west, the Western Addition to the south, and Fisherman's Wharf to the east.

Culturally, The Marina is thought of as being exclusive, and in some cases snobby. This is at least partially accounted for by the fact that many Marina residents are wealthy, preppy and/or extremely career-minded. The Marina crowd tends to be largely insular, with many of its residents seldom visit other parts of the city. Despite any reputation it may have, the Marina can still afford for a great visit, especially on a sunny day. The lawns at Crissy Field and Fort Mason offer spectacular views of the Golden Gate Bridge and are ideal for lounging.
