Toronto Area Bloggers & #TOpoli / #TOcouncil Tweeters

In the 2010 Election, Bloggers and Tweeters began to make their presence known.

During Toronto Election 2014, it is expected Bloggers covering the Mayor and Council races will give Traditional Print and Broadcast media a run for their money in Breaking News, Reporting and Commentary.

This audience will be comprised of invited Bloggers, primarily from Scarborough and East Toronto. As well as regular Tweeters who opine on City Hall and Toronto Politics using the #TOpoli & #TOcouncil hashtags.

Invited Bloggers may not necessarily be regular writers of Toronto Politics, they do however regularly blog about The City and its culture, issues, and people. It is hoped that in gathering this unique combination of people who blog, the tone of the overall Election may begin with something other than the echo chamber soundbites which have already begun inside the traditional reporting machine.

Candidates and Format

Mayoral Candidates have been invited and a list of confirmed Candidates will be edited in a list below.

Additionally, every challenger City Council Candidate running in any Scarborough Ward are also being invited to the Forum. They each will be invited to briefly introduce themselves and their reasons for running to the audience.

Being this early in the Election Cycle, rather than a pointed debate very heavy on Policy, this forum is more of a get to know the Candidates as a person format.

Every Blogger & Tweeter invited will be able to ask at least one question of any or all of the Mayoral Candidates. Time permitting, a second round of Follow-Up Questions will take place.

#voteTOThe audience will be encouraged to live-tweet during the forum.

Some of the tweets made become part of the discussion.

The recommended Hashtag for the evening is #voteTO.

There will be ample time after the formal 90 minutes to informally speak with, photograph or interview candidates.

The Rex's Den closes at 10 p.m.
