What they do

VEAP is an organization that provides social services that promote healthy eating, stable housing needs, and transportation services.

VEAP is a volunteer based program that provides food, social services, and transportation to those in need to provide assistance to those in the crisis of loss of housing, transportation, or employment.

Programs

Food Assistance include food pantry, food programs for children and youth, Nutrition Education classes, and food delivery for seniors

  • Food Pantry
    • Provides 2.7 million meals to community members.
    • Distributes over 3.4 million pounds of food (52% vegetables and fruits).
  • Student Hunger Collaborative
    • partnership between VEAP, local school districts, and District 5950 Rotarians provides Friday food packs to students identified as at risk of being hungry over the weekend.
  • Summer Youth Food
    • Provides an additional visit to VEAP's food pantry each month during summertime for families with school-aged children
  • Cooking Matters
    • Six-week cooking course that helps families shop for and cook healthy meals on budget

How to get help

In order to access VEAP's resources you must live in the areas

  • Bloomington, Edina, Richfield and the portion of south Minneapolis that is west of Cedar Ave and south of 50th Street

Volunteers will ask for

  • A piece of current official mail
    • Ex: Utility bill
  • Identification for additional household members
