Jack Slaven Park (a.k.a. Slaven Park) is an L-shaped park in southeast Spring Lake, built in 2010. It is partially bounded by Ortiz Avenue to its north, Miekle Avenue to its west, and Camacho Way to its east. Paved footpaths lead into it from all three of those streets and also from Dunlap Place to its south (via Dunlap Alley)It features a walking trail, a water-play feature, a playground, barbecues, sheltered picnic tables, and restrooms. The park can be reserved for private use.

The east edge of Slaven Park is an access point to the East Bike Loop.

Trees planted at Slaven Park include two species that are native to WoodlandValley Oak (Quercus lobata) and Interior Live Oak (Quercus wislizeni). Additionally, the Modesto Ash/Arizona Ash (Fraxinus velutina) at the park is native to other parts of California. Non-native trees at Slaven Park include Amur Maple (Acer ginnala), Japanese Maple (Acer palmatum), Red Maple (Acer rubrum), European Hornbeam (Carpinus betulus 'Fastigiata'), Deodar Cedar (Cedrus deodara), European Hackberry (Celtis australis), Eastern Redbud (Cercis canadensis), Chinese Fringe Tree (Chionanthus retusus), Maidenhair Tree (Ginkgo biloba), Japanese Crabapple (Malus floribunda), Prairie Crabapple (Malus ioensis 'Prariefire'), London Plane (Platanus × hispanica), Holly Oak (Quercus ilex), Pin Oak (Quercus palustris), English Columnar White Oak (Quercus robur 'Fastigiata'), Northern Red Oak (Quercus rubra), Cork Oak (Quercus suber), Southern Live Oak (Quercus virginiana), Calabrian Pine (Pinus brutia), Canary Island Pine (Pinus canariensis), Little-leaf Linden (Tilia cordata), American Elm (Ulmus americana), Chinese Elm (Ulmus parvifolia), and Saw-leaf Zelkova (Zelkova serrata).

Walking Trail

Slaven Park is connected via Spring Lake Alley (a 1-mile pedestrian-only footpath) to Farmers Central Road to its north and to Rick Gonzales, Sr. Park and County Road 25A to its south. This alley is connected via sidewalks to nearby West Spring Lake Alley (an 0.8-mile pedestrian-only footpath), which runs from Ortiz Avenue to County Road 25A, to the west of Gonzales Park, and to a network of smaller pedestrian-only alleys throughout Spring Lake. Slaven Park is also directly connected to Dunlap Alley (described above) and to Jack Slaven Alley (which runs from Farmers Central Road to Ortiz Avenue at the center of the northern perimeter of Slaven Park).
