Marysville is a small community about 45 miles south of Chico, on the east bank of the Feather River. It had a population of 12,268 according to the 2000 U.S. Census. Marysville is the county seat of Yuba County. It is the twin city of Yuba City, which is the county seat of Sutter County.

The most direct route to Marysville is via Highway 70 south from Oroville. Highway 70 overlaps with part of Highway 20 in Marysville, and there are many stoplights on and near the overlapping portion. Highway 70 joins Highway 99 north of Sacramento.
