A long, long time ago, UC Davis was nothing more than a University Farm School to UC Berkeley.
This was the old entrance to the campus.
Here's what the plaque reads:
This is one of the most beautiful of the various Campus entrances.
A picture of the old gate, as it stood in 1959. You can barely make out the words "University of California" (left) "The College of Agriculture" (right) on the signs.
